Thing 1 No picture yet but this
was our first car with a 4 pot kent engine with no2 it ran down to the
thirteen second bracket and it was this car the commentators nick named
the thing and the name has stuck ever since
Thing 2 Not quite the beginning this was a revamped version of
thing 1 this car ran with a rover v8 and a borg Warner gearbox with a
narrowed rover axle all the work was done by the team.
We ran this car with the rover v8 club and then in super street this car
ran in the twelve second bracket.and was side lined after pulling a three
foot wheelie at Santa Pod and was inspected by the tech crew . only
a few proplems were found with the car but we had already decided to build
thing three.
Thing 3 this was built
from a Mark Williams drawing which Dave brought back from Gainesville in
1995.It was our first attempt at a full tube chassis and we ran with the
wild bunch the car ran down to the low twelve's with the engine and
gearbox out of thing 2 The rear axle was a ford 8-1/2"
Thing 4 this car was the same
chassis as thing 3 but the front end was lengthened by 3 feet. and the
power plant was changed to a blown 351 ford Cleveland engine the gear box
was a ford fmx with a trans brake this car made its debut at York raceway
in Aug 2003 with a 60 foot squirt just to check it out .We then took it to
the Donny in the park event October 2003 at Shakespeare county raceway
were on our first full pass we destroyed the engine .This set us back for
a while
Thing 5 Here we are right up to date this car
was to have been a McKenzie Windridge Hall car but Johnny decided to go
the nitro slingshot route and that left Dave and Mark to concentrate on
the altered this took us about three years to build because of a very
limited budget but we finally debuted the car at SCR on May 18th 2007
and on our first run we snapped a pushrod fortunately it did not do to
much damage and we were able to do repairs and be back out a fortnight
later again at SCR the car has run a best of 9.7 seconds at 153 mph but we
have not obtained the full potential of the car yet
